We are thrilled to share that Iparticipate recently took part in the prestigious COMPASS Training in Human Rights Education. Organised by the Council of Europe Youth Department in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), this impactful residential seminar was held at the European Youth Centre Budapest (EYCB).
The seminar brought together 30 dedicated trainers and multipliers from across Council of Europe member states and the Middle East and North Africa region. This diverse gathering provided a dynamic space for intercultural exchange, allowing us to share good practices and explore innovative ways to make Human Rights Education more accessible, engaging and meaningful for young people.
Throughout the training, our focus was on expanding our understanding of HRE methodologies. We deeply explored the renowned COMPASS manual and other vital educational resources. The hands-on sessions were specifically designed to strengthen our competences in designing and facilitating educational activities that are firmly rooted in core human rights principles.
The initiative doesn’t end in Budapest. As part of the ongoing programme, all participants will be implementing follow-up activities between October and December. We are currently working on adapting the methodologies and tools we acquired to our local communities. By working directly with young people, we aim to translate these international frameworks into localized, impactful action.
We consider Human Rights Education an essential part of empowering young people to recognise their rights, challenge discrimination, promote equality and actively contribute to democratic and inclusive societies.

Stay tuned as we roll out our local follow-up activities in the coming months!
